This book at first made me uncomfortable. But you don’t grow it you’re uncomfortable. You have to learn how unpack all your emotions and feelings and put yourself first sometimes. That’s exactly what this book helps you learn how to do. It’s a book that doesn’t aim to fix you but to help yourself heal. Healing and fixing are different things, and this book gives an empathetic approach when dealing with topics that aren’t always the easiest to talk about.

I feel seen.

The Strong Ones Are Tired by Scott Boxa was a pleasant surprise. It’s not preachy or overly analytical. To the contrary, it felt more like a friend was sitting there with a beer or some coffee and saying, “I feel that, this is how I deal with it”. The short, easy-to-read chapters make it perfect to pick up whenever you need a moment, without having to start over or catch up. In my personal village and in my career, I am often the strong one that feels obligated to hold it together for me and everyone else. This book made me feel seen and reminded me it’s okay to be tired.

Review: The Stong One Is Tired
Reviewed May 20, 2025

The Strong One Is Tired is for the overachievers, emotional caregivers, and quiet warriors running on empty but still showing up. It’s not another self-help pep talk or a glow-up plan—it’s more like collapsing in your hoodie and whispering, “I can’t today”… and for once, being allowed to mean it. This book understands your struggle and acknowledges your need for a break. With sharp honesty, dry humor, and deep compassion, Scotty Boxa offers permission to rest, feel, and stop pretending you’re fine. Think emotional first aid for the burnout crowd—no guilt, no pressure, just truth. Read this when you’re too exhausted to be inspired. Cry into your cereal. Then, start to heal. This book is not just a book, it’s a tool for your healing journey.

Clear non-judgemental and empowering
Reviewed June 13, 2025

This is a straight-talking, clear, uncompromising book that can get to the heart of what it feels like to be the one that everyone relies on, and yet be slowly dying inside. Whilst the book is written in a way that can make you laugh out loud at times, there’s no denying it addresses a serious problem that a lot of us will relate to – the crazy way we force ourself to hold it all together, when we are scarcely able to do that – and yet somehow we do. Until maybe we find this book, and feel the relief of someone seeing what’s really going on, without judgement and receive the permission to relax into that.

Exactly what you need when you’re running on empty
Reviewed May 23, 2025

The Strong One is Tired is honest, funny, and so easy to read — the kind of book you can pick up when you’re barely holding it together and somehow feel seen, supported, and even a little lighter. What I appreciated most is that it gives plenty of solid advice without ever making you feel like you’ve failed at life. There’s no pressure to be perfect or have it all figured out. Just gentle, relatable encouragement to stop carrying everything and start reclaiming yourself. If you’ve been “the strong one” for too long, this book will remind you that you’re allowed to be tired — and more importantly, you’re allowed to rest. The goal isn’t to become a whole new person. It’s to come back to you. And this book will absolutely help you do that.

The Strong One Is Tired” was different
May 29, 2025

Honestly, I’ve tried a ton of self-help books, but “The Strong One Is Tired” was different. It’s not telling you how to fix everything or keep hustling—it just lets you feel seen and gives you permission to slow down for once. I legit felt relieved reading some of the parts, like someone finally gets what I’m going through. If you’re constantly the “go-to” person and you’re exhausted from always being strong, this book is totally for you. It felt like a friend saying it’s okay to rest. Kinda wish I’d found this sooner tbh.

Tenero, vero, profondamente liberatorio
Italy, May 28, 2025

The Strong One Is Tired è un abbraccio sotto forma di parole. Non vuole motivarti, sistemarti o spingerti a fare di più. Vuole solo dirti: “Lo so.

Exactly what my client needed

Canada – June 5, 2025

I got this book for a client who’s been quietly struggling under the weight of being “the strong one” for far too long. She’s the person everyone leans on, but lately, she’s been reaching her limit. This book gave her something she didn’t even know she needed: permission to fall apart without fixing it. She said, “It’s not preachy. It’s not trying to fix or motivate. It’s raw, witty, and incredibly validating.” She told me she felt seen for the first time in a long while and it helped her soften in ways therapy couldn’t quite reach.

A Hug In Book Form

The Strong One Is Tired is the most honest, comforting, and emotionally validating book I’ve read in a long time. Scotty Boxa doesn’t try to fix you, hype you up, or throw productivity clichés at your burnout. Instead, this book sits with you—in the mess, in the quiet, in that raw place where you’re just done pretending everything’s fine. If you’ve ever been the one everyone leans on—while secretly unraveling inside—this book feels like it was written just for you. It’s not preachy or performative. It’s brutally relatable, darkly funny, and weirdly healing. I found myself highlighting entire pages that felt like they were pulled straight from my own tired brain. This isn’t “self-help.” It’s self-permission. Permission to rest. To cry. To stop performing strength and just be. Every page reminds you that you’re not weak for needing a break—you’re just human. And being human is enough. Read this if you’re exhausted. Read this if you’ve been “the strong one” for too long. Then send a copy to someone else who needs to feel seen. Absolute must-read.

A Refreshing and Honest Take on Burnout – A Must-Read in Today’s High-Pressure World
Reviewed June 12, 2025

This book offers a fresh and delightful perspective on a problem that touches so many of us, especially in today’s society, where we’re constantly pressured to perform, maintain a perfect image, and stay in perpetual motion. Beneath the surface, however, many of us are struggling—feeling emotionally drained, physically exhausted, and unable to admit that we’re simply human. This book on burnout, written with wit, insight, and a touch of humor, serves as a timely reminder. It encourages us to embrace who we truly are and to stop being so hard on ourselves. We don’t need to keep striving to please everyone, our employers, our families, and our friends, at the cost of our well-being. What I appreciated most is that the book doesn’t offer superficial self-care tips but instead invites a more genuine, human-centered approach to recovery and balance, one that avoids the unrealistic standards promoted by social media or workplace culture. I read the Kindle version, but I will be purchasing a hard copy for myself and one for my daughter. As high achievers, we constantly strive to stand firm amidst life’s onslaughts. We both needed this reminder: taking a break and caring for yourself isn’t a sign of weakness or laziness; it’s essential. And feeling guilty about it? This book explains precisely why feeling guilty about taking a break is nonsense. This book is highly recommended for anyone who is feeling overwhelmed or simply ready to live a more authentic life.

The Truth Teller

For Everyone Who’s Held It Together With Snacks and One Last Nerve
Australia – June 28, 2025

Ever been called “the strong one” like it’s a bloody compliment, but all it really means is “please keep emotionally babysitting the world while slowly disintegrating inside”? Yeah. This book is for you. The Strong One Is Tired isn’t your usual motivational fluff piece with ten steps to manifest joy or whatever. It’s more like a survival manual written by someone who’s actually survived. Scotty Boxa doesn’t preach, doesn’t fix, doesn’t hand you a gratitude journal and tell you to vibe higher. He sits beside you, throws you a blanket, and says, “Same, mate. Let’s scream into the void together and maybe nap after.” The chapters hit like late-night text messages from your emotionally honest best friend, funny, raw, wildly validating, and sometimes devastating in that good, “oh god someone finally said it” kind of way. Also, screenshot-worthy affirmations? Brilliant. Like Post-It notes for your nervous system. If you’re after a neat, linear recovery arc with homework assignments and a success story ending, jog on. This book’s more a patchwork quilt of therapy notes, sarcastic TED talks, and emotional molotovs with a snack break in between. But if you’re burnt out, masking, emotionally fried, and fantasizing about disappearing into a forest with no Wi-Fi? You’ve found your bible. It won’t fix you. But it’ll make you feel a whole lot less alone. And honestly, that’s enough.

Great read…
Australia – June 4, 2025

If you’re the person everyone turns to for support — this book is for you. Not to fix you. Basically, it let’s you know, “Hey, you don’t have to take the whole thing.” It’s funny in the way that will make sense only to those who are exhausted. It allows you to take a pause and to stop trying so hard. It tells you that resting is not weakness and that you are allowed to not be O.K. I found it very interesting and useful. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was due to the formatting. I found the font and style of formatting hard to read. Only the good info helped me get through to the end.
